How CGPA to Percentage Conversion Works
CBSE (Class 10 & 12): Percentage = CGPA × 9.5. This is the official formula published by CBSE for its 10-point CGPA system.
Anna University & most TN Engineering Colleges: Percentage = (CGPA × 10) − 7.5. Used widely across Tamil Nadu engineering colleges affiliated with Anna University.
VTU (Visvesvaraya Technological University): Uses the same (CGPA × 10) − 7.5 approximation commonly accepted for VTU students, though VTU's official conversion can vary slightly by scheme year — check your official transcript if this matters for a specific application.
4.0 GPA Scale (used in some international & a few Indian private universities): Percentage = (GPA ÷ 4) × 100.
This calculator is meant for quick estimates — for official admissions, scholarships, or visa purposes, always use the conversion certificate issued by your board or university.
